Yes! Gusts of wind, even at low speeds, can create lifting forces that may damage your carriers or crossbars. If this happens, it is not a failure of your crossbars. For items that may induce lifting forces (e.g., surfboards, kayaks, canoes, ladders), they must be secured to the front and rear of the vehicle using tie-down straps capable of withstanding these forces. Bow and Stern safety tie-downs are required for all Malone rooftop transports. Failure to correctly install and use these tie-downs will void all warranty and liability. Can I go through a car wash with my Malone roof rack? Only at your own risk, we instruct to remove the roof rack to prevent damage to the product and or the vehicle. Will my carriers, from other brands, fit onto Malone roof racks? Below are dimensions and diagrams of each Malone cross bar system that we offer. Using this information, you can inquire through the company who produces your carriers as to whether your carriers are compatible and or if they supply accessories that will allow attachment.
![]() How can I reduce wind/whistle noise while using my Airflow2 To minimize wind and whistle noise when using your Airflow2, follow these 3 tips: 1. Install the Crossbars correctly: Ensure that the thicker side of the Crossbar is positioned towards the front of the vehicle. 2. Insert the Bottom Rubber Strip properly: Make sure it's fully inserted into the bottom slot on each Crossbar as seen on Page 3 - AirFlow2 Manual. 3. Check the End Caps: Ensure all 4 End Caps are fully inserted into the Crossbars. When the Crossbars are properly oriented, the Bottom Rubber Strip is fully inserted, and the End Caps are in place, the Airflow2 should produce minimal wind or whistle noise. We also sell a line of Malone Wind Fairings to further reduce wind or whistle noise. Water Sport Carriers:What roof rack systems are Malone Kayak and Canoe carriers compatible with? All of our carriers will mount universally to all of Malone’s crossbars, factory, and aftermarket bars. A common misconception is that every bar is meant to be captured by the rectangular slot on the bottom of all of our carriers. This slot is meant for square bars, any other bar - up to 4 ¼’’ wide - is meant to be captured by the full base of the carrier (*if needed, we have longer bolts on our website to accessorize with, up to 90mm long). Regardless of the shape of the bar – our carriers will attach securely and transport safely. Being universal our bases will not fit exactly to every profile of bar, however when your boat is loaded and the front and rear tie-downs are applied, the system will level itself out. Again, allowing for safe and secure transport. If your vehicle is equipped with factory installed cross bars, utilize our Fit Guide to determine if longer bolts are needed to attach any Malone kayak or canoe carrier to your cross bars - Click here to view fit guide Kayak and Canoe carrier weight capacities: J-STYLE/SIDE-LOADING Kayak CARRYING SYSTEMS, Single Kayak

Malone trailers are designed for safe towing up to 65 mph. Always follow state laws and adjust speed for weather, wind, and road conditions. How much weight can a Malone trailer carry? Always check pressure before every trip. Can I back the trailer into the water? Yes, many models are designed for water launches. If your trailer does not have waterproof LED lights, disconnect them before submerging. Always rinse with fresh water after saltwater use. What’s the difference between standard and LowBed™ trailers? LowBed™ Trailers feature load bars positioned closer to the ground, making it easier to load and unload heavy boats. Standard Trailers sit higher, offering more ground clearance for kayaks and canoes, while also being compatible with Malone Storage Trunk accessories. Can I store boats on my trailer long-term? No. We don’t recommend leaving boats stored on the trailer, as it can cause hull damage, wear straps, and add stress to the trailer. Use a proper rack or storage solution instead. It covers defects in materials and workmanship when the trailer is used and maintained correctly. Where are Malone trailers made? Malone trailers are proudly made in the USA. Is the FS Rack™ Base Frame's height adjustable? No, unfortunately the rack is not height adjustable. To maintain structural integrity we recommend for the rack to be fully assembled as shown in our instructions. The height is 83" and the frame comes with six independent frame leveler feet allowing level placement on uneven surfaces. These levelers give the frame about 1" of leveling adjustability. Adding the FS Rack™ Caster Wheel Kit will add about 3" of height to the frame for a total of 86". See FS Rack™ Instructions See FS Rack™ Caster Wheel Kit See FS Rack™ Base Frame |
